Elexus
We are looking for a forever family for Elexus, a gorgeous baby who has a beautiful smile and captivating big blue eyes.
Elexus is a young baby who is just starting to develop her personality. Her foster carer describes her as ‘just lush’ and says she gives exceptionally good cuddles. Elexus enjoys watching and observing the things that happen around her and will watch from her play mat, she especially enjoys watching the older children playing.
Elexus shows a good awareness towards familiar people and will give them lovely smiles. Her face lights up for her foster carer.
She has a great giggle too and shows it off best when she’s being interacted with.
Elexus is a bundle of joy who is putting on weight and growing all the time though remains small for her age as she was born prematurely.
Sadly, it has not been possible to find the right family for her yet, and she continues to live in foster care.
Elexus has had a very difficult start to life, due to being born early and having some additional health and care needs. Elexus has been born with a rare congenital defect and a Cleft Palate. For Elexus this means that she has found it harder to breath unaided or to take milk through a bottle.
Elexus is supported to take her feeds through an NG tube, which helps the milk go straight to her tummy. Although she does try to take some milk through a bottle when she is able to. To support her oxygen levels Alexis is receiving a low flow of oxygen 24 hours of the day.
Elexus will likely undergo corrective surgery for her cleft palate when she is around 13 months old. It is hoped that she will be weaned off her oxygen and NG fluids in the future.
Elexus also has some hearing loss in both of her ears, and to support her communication development she already has input from Speech and Language Therapy and Sensory Support services. Her hearing will be reviewed when she is around 8months old.
Elexus has a great care team of professionals around her which are all supporting her development and progress. She will continue to have access to these services for as long as required.
Elexus’ diagnoses might mean that some prospective adopters are worried about being able to meet her needs. However, every child is unique, and this goes for Elexus too, she needs a family who can see her for who she is and all the rewards she can bring to their lives. Elexus needs a family who are willing to learn and grow with her.
Like any other child, Elexus needs the love and security of a family who can offer her unconditional love.
